Increased Call Volume for Area Fire Stations

Trees that block the roads are addressed in part by local fire departments, but downed power lines cannot be until Con Ed arrives on the scene.

On Saturday, firefighters were out in force responding to the plethora of snow-related calls. Purchase Fire Department reports no injuries yesterday or so far today related to the storm, said firefighter Giovanni Cordova. Both the fire and police departments are now keeping an eye on power lines and other wires that are down, he said.

Downed trees and power lines were responsible for the bulk of the calls in the Town of Mamaroneck, said Fire Department Chief Brendan Collins. He, too, had no injuries or evacuations reported in the town. There were no calls from residents on critical life support systems.

Trees that block the roads are addressed by the department and the Department of Public Works, however, downed power lines cannot be until Con Ed arrives on the scene.
