How Well Do You Know the Fourth?

Ever wonder who buys most of the fireworks made in the USA? Hint: It's not us!

The U.S. government is a vast repository of facts and figures, particularly the Census Bureau, which tracks everything from who we are and where we live to how many goats we own.

It's also a great source for random Independence Day trivia. But instead of just telling you that 31 places in the U.S. have "Liberty" as part of their name (largest is Liberty, Missouri, pop: 32,000) we thought a quick test would be more fun.

So impress your friends and family by guessing the answers to the following questions. No Googling! We'll post the answers later this afternoon.

2. The U.S. is not a big exporter of fireworks — we only shipped out about $37 million worth in 2010. (By contrast China's fireworks exports exceeded $190 million in the same year.) Name the country that was the largest purchaser of 'Made in USA' fireworks?

3. What year were the words "Under God" added to the Pledge of Allegiance?

4. Shortly after the adoption of the Declaration of Independence, which general captured New York City?

5. A two-fer: What was the first year the Macy's fireworks display was televised and what year did it move from the East River to the Hudson?

ANSWERS:

2. Japan

3. 1954.

4. Howe.

5. 1976 and then 2009.

Thanks for playing and have a great Fourth of July.
