Harrison Resident and Former County Legislator Added to Westchester Jewish Council Board

Former Westchester County Legislator, the Honorable Martin Rogowsky of Harrison, was elected to the Westchester Jewish Council's Board of Directors, the organization announced yesterday.

On Wednesday, May 22, 2013, the Westchester Jewish Council elected New Rochelle resident Paul B. Warhit as its newest president of the Board of Directors. Warhit succeeds Ronald E. Burton, also of New Rochelle, who served as president for the last four years. In addition, eleven new members were added to the organization’s Board of Directors. They are: Liat Altman (Scarsdale), Peter Baum (White Plains), Millie Jasper (Croton), Gary Katz (Scarsdale), Harry Mamaysky (Scarsdale), David Miller (Mamaroneck), Warren Newcorn (Scarsdale), Mitchell Ostrove (New Rochelle), the Honorable Martin Rogowsky (Harrison), Helene Schonbrun (White Plains), and Diane Werner (White Plains).

Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino delivered the oath of office to the new board members. The Westchester Jewish Council is the central coordinating, convening advisory and resource body for the county's Jewish community, representing more than 140 Jewish organizations and serving 150,000 Jews. As Westchester's Jewish community relations organization, the Council unites Westchester Jewry with the State of Israel, fosters communication among Jewish organizations, and cultivates and strengthens relations with other religious and ethnic groups, elected officials, and the community at large.

The Council encourages participation in Jewish life and supports and develops initiatives and programs that meet existing and emerging Jewish communal needs. The Council is a member of the Jewish Community Relations Council of New York and a beneficiary agency of UJA-Federation of New York.
