Get a 'Taste' of a Busy Harrison Weekend

Friday begins a busy weekend that includes a carnival, restaurant event and two college graduation ceremonies.

Whether you enjoy community carnivals, new town traditions or sitting down for a bite to eat, this weekend's busy list of events is bound to have something for you to enjoy.

Five exciting events are packed into the next three days, providing the opportunity for everyone to get out and enjoy the late spring weather.

The weekend will kick-off Friday afternoon with the commencement ceremony at the Westchester County Center starting at 1 p.m. Purchase will award six honorary degrees to distinguished alumni while sending off the class of 2012.

 will hosts its commencement on Saturday on the college's quad. The ceremony will begin at 11 a.m.

Also on Saturday, St. Gregory the Great School will host its annual pre-school carnival from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m at 94 Broadway, Harrison. The event is for younger children and families are welcome.

A few hours later, Harrison will celebrate the at in West Harrison. The event, which honors police, fire, EMS and other public servants, will begin at 5 p.m.

The annual Mass has been held at the church every spring since 2008 and is a great opportunity for people of all faiths to say thank you to those who give to the community.

The first annual event will be held Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sponsored by the Friends of the Harrison Public Library, the event offers a food sampling at 25 different Harrison restaurants for only $20 per-plate. (Price may increase the day of the event.)
