. Sept. 9. 1 p.m. The Rockland County chapter of The Compassionate Friends hosts the 21st annual Children’s Memorial Day on Sunday, Sept. 9 at 1 p.m. at the Children’s Memorial Garden in Veterans Memorial Park, in Orangeburg, New York. The service celebrates the lives of children who have passed away and includes readings, poetry, music and a balloon liftoff. The Compassionate Friends (TCF) is a nationwide mutual assistance self-help support organization, offering support and understanding to families who have experienced the death of a child. Founded in England in 1969, it was established in the U.S. in 1972.
