Free Musical; Armed Forces Tribute; Children's Memorial Day

There is something for everyone to do this week in the Hudson Valley.

Sept. 8. 2:30 p.m. Everybody’s Watching: The Making of The Constitution is the story of a young group of students who think they don't like history until they perform a play about the four months during which the Constitution was written. Sept. 9. 10 a.m. The Nyack Chamber hosts the 26thannual SeptemberFest street fair on Sunday, Sept. 9 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. — rain or shine. Enjoy more than 200 vendors of crafts, jewelry, art, photography, and more. The fair also features live music courtesy Nyack’s Anjel Blue Rehearsal Studios and The Nyack Music School, street performers from local high school groups and non-profits, a kids’ carnival with amusements and rides. Sept. 9. 1 p.m. The Rockland County chapter of The Compassionate Friends hosts the 21st annual Children’s Memorial Day on Sunday, Sept. 9 at 1 p.m. at the Children’s Memorial Garden in Veterans Memorial Park, in Orangeburg, New York. The service celebrates the lives of children who have passed away and includes readings, poetry, music and a balloon liftoff. The Compassionate Friends (TCF) is a nationwide mutual assistance self-help support organization, offering support and understanding to families who have experienced the death of a child. Founded in England in 1969, it was established in the U.S. in 1972.  Sept. 12. 9 a.m. Westchester County and the New York Blood Center’s Hudson Valley Blood Services are sponsoring a blood drive Sept. 12 to honor the victims of the 9/11 terrorist attacks on New York City. The Marylou Seaman County Employees Blood Drive is open to the general public as well as county employees. It will take place at the Westchester County Center from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Must be between 16 and 76 years old and weigh at least 110 pounds. . Sept. 8. 11 a.m. The Briarcliff Manor Garden Club, Federated Garden Clubs of New York State, 9th District in cooperation with the Village of Briarcliff Manor Mayor William Vescio, Commander Larry Reilly, American Legion Post 1054 are officiating a special Dedication Blue Star Ceremony at Briarcliff Manor Pocket Park with a new monument, a By-Way Marker, to honor our armed forces. The monument was placed at the park on July 31. 2012. All are invited to this Dedication Ceremony that will launch Briarcliff Manor Community Day. The National Anthem will be sung by Steven Santiago (aka "Opera Steve"). In case of rain, The Blue Star Marker Dedication Ceremony will be at the .
