Flood Watch Predicts 2 Inches of Rain in Some Areas

Officials say that even if the precipitation stops, the potential for flooding could last until Saturday morning.

Heavy rainfall, thunderstorms and the frozen ground could all contribute to "rapid water rises" in Harrison, West Harrison and Purchase Friday.

The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch advisory, with warnings that total rainfall will likely reach an inch to an inch and a half, with "locally higher amounts up to two inches".

Urban streets and underpasses, in addition to small streams, are most at risk for flooding, according to the advisory. While the rain is expected to stop sometime Friday afternoon, the possibility of flooding could last into Saturday morning because of runoff.
