'Eye on the Naked City'; Discover Nature; Tony Trischka

Eye on the Naked City: the Photographs of Charles Ruppmann. Feb. 19. Noon. The Field Library Gallery presents the works of Charles Ruppmann, celebrated New York Daily News photographer. Ruppmann, a Peekskill resident, is known for his gritty images that capture the glories and horrors of city life. Free. Field Library, 4 Nelson Ave., Peekskill.
Winter Tree Identification Walk. Feb. 19. Noon. Arborist Craig Stevens leads a tree identification walk in the Arboretum with a focus on storm damage—how to prevent it, how to deal with critical pruning in the aftermath, corrective pruning for tree survival, and what species to avoid planting in the first place. Bluegrass Banjo with Tony Trischka. Feb. 21. 1:30 p.m. Tony Trischka is considered the most influential bluegrass banjo player in the roots music world. He's recorded with Bela Fleck, Alison Brown, Earl Scruggs, Ralph Stanley, Pete Seeger, members of REM, William S. Burroughs, Natalie Merchant, Alison Krauss and Steve Martin. Free. Beaded Earring Craft. Feb. 22. 2 p.m. Teens in middle and high school craft their own beaded earrings and learn a lesson about giving at the Lewisboro Library. For every pair of earrings made, one must be made and donated to a shelter. Program organizer and Yorktown resident Joan Lloyd supplies the beads and handles the donation process (she makes and donates 500 pairs annually). Registration required. Free. 'The Loving Story' at Nyack Center. Feb. 22. 8 p.m. Rivertown Film presents "The Loving Story," a film about Mildred and Richard Loving, an interracial couple from Virginia circa the Civil Rights Era whose love led to the overturning of anti-miscegenation laws in 1967. Discover Nature. Feb. 23. 10 a.m. Tilly Foster Farm launches Discover Nature, a program focusing on birds that winter in the north, what things animals eat in the winter, and winter plants.
