Miss Anything? This Week in Review

A look back at Harrison news for the week of May 30.

An oil spill in the Bronx River, Harrison High School's senior prom and the baseball and softball section playoffs highlighted the week in Harrison news.

But the week started off with the Memorial Day parade. Harrison honored fallen soldiers with a parade down Halstead Avenue on Monday morning. Check out our photo slideshow of the parade.

Peter Viscogliosi was named Harrison Patch's athlete of the week this week for his efforts on the baseball field.

On Wednesday an oil leak from a residential building spilled hundreds of gallons into the Bronx River. The spill killed fish and caused other problems. Later in the week, officials announced that the owner of the building would be responsible for the cleanup. The cleanup efforts continued throughout the week.

On Tuesday we had coverage of the farmers market in Purchase. That event will bring local produce to residents throughout the summer.

In sports news the Harrison softball team lost a tough game to Hendrick Hudson in the Section 1 playoffs. The Huskies season ended with just their second loss of the season.

The baseball team on the other hand exceeded expectations with a run that took them all the way to the section championship game. But their season ended with a 4 - 1 loss to Lakeland in the finals.

Harrison also hosted its senior prom on Thursday night, check out some photos from the night.

This week we also took a look at the Harrison Town Board's stance on hydraulic fracturing.
