Now we begin the serious shopping.
I do not participate in the Black Friday game because I would rather shop locally supporting the small business owner. I don't have a lot to buy, nor do I have small children to buy for, so my shopping has changed over the years, and so has my attitude. I have become more conscientious and check the tags now to discover where it was made.
Most of my life, I have made things to give to others. It was hard for my grandmother to get mad at me when she knew my gift was handmade rather than store bought. I did this a lot and received just as much joy in the creating as the giving and found that I too loved to receive a handmade gift. It just had more soul.
I've learned to do what I love to do to be happy. I create a lot. I love sharing the art of creating as well and it's why I teach.
What logically progressed was opening a store, not just a store, but a gallery. Not just a gallery, but a studio to create in and have other people come to enjoy the act of creating as well, thus was born Room to Create at 245 Harrison Ave. in downtown Harrison.
My husband John and I exhibited our work around the area for a few years and it was well received, but packing and repacking and looking for the next space became tiresome. With Room to Create, we get to exhibit our work, and include other local artists as well.
Stop by to enjoy some beautiful hand made art and enjoy the calm of the store.
We are closed Sundays and Mondays and open Tuesdays: 10-5, Wed: 12-4, Thurs. and Friday: 11 - 6, Sat: 10-5
