New Farmer at the West Harrison Farmers Market

A great addition has been made to the West Harrison Market

Yes, we were open Saturday, even though it started as a HOT, holiday weekend! It was a quiet day with most of the business taking place in the morning. Those who were staying home this weekend came down for the items they would need for their long weekend of cooking—or chilling!

We had a new vendor join us, the W. Rogowsy Farm. Cheryl Rogowski is a second generation of the W. Rogowski Farm, she owns and manages a very diverse farm of over 150 acres, “growing over 250 varieties of produce every year”, according to her brochure.

Cheryl is excited to be a part of our market. This summer, we will showcase her product in cooking demos where you will learn different ways to prepare the many vegetables the W.Rogowsky Farm will bring for sale. Please check Patch for updates.

The W. Rogowski Farm is a little more than an hour away. It is located in the black dirt region of Pine Island in the Town of Warwick in Orange County, NY. You can visit the farm on line at www.Rogowskifarm.com and, you can visit them here at the farmers market on Saturday mornings between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. Jackie (a seasoned worker at the Rogowski farm since she began helping out when she was 14 years old) will be here to assist you when you come to shop.

This farm is Certified Naturally Grown, which is a Grassroots Alternative to the USDA’s Organic Program, meant primarily for small farmers distributing through local channels. The produce is just gorgeous. Everything Cheryl and Jackie brought to our market was picked the day before: the herbs and leafy vegetables were in abundance, along with the beets, leeks and radishes! The blueberries and gooseberries were fat and plump with tasty juices and the basil infused lemonade was just delicious!
