A Visit to the Farm and a Pumpkin for Pumpkin Nut Bread!

Saturday's new products and a visit to the farm!

This Saturday was a surprise for me. We started out the day with a bit of a breezy, chilly (I had to run home for a stadium blanket) morning. Once the sun poked its head out of the clouds, it was much more comfortable: still a cool autumn day…lovely!

I mentioned in last week’s blog that we are now carrying fresh farm eggs. Johanna Safar, our market supervisor, went to Arch River Farm in Millbrook, NY, with her children, Luka and Yoan. The children loved it: in fact, they picked the eggs that were packaged and sold on Saturday at our market. Please see the photos I posted—it does not get any fresher than this!

I am most happy about the fact that I was able to purchase the pumpkin for my pumpkin nut bread. This will be a new addition at the Dolce Denise stand: it will share a spot with the cranberry nut bread. For those of you who cannot eat nuts, I will have a few loaves without them.

As the summer weeks flew by, so too, will October. It saddens me to know that I have a limited time left at the West Harrison farmers market. We will be closing shop on October 22, rather than the posted 29th. Please take advantage of the next few Saturdays to purchase our products. I will keep you posted as to whether some of us will be at an indoor market over the winter months. Remember, come early: the Italian bread is warm when it first gets to the market!

Happy marketing!
