Humor, Music, Mayhem as Blues Brothers Come to Westchester on Friday

"I love the life I live and I live the life I love."

Those are the lyrics from Muddy Waters, which has been performed by the Blues Brothers, starring John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd. The two comedians, who played the characters of Jake and Elwood Blues, loved music and had a great time performing.

"It's infectious when you know people love what they do," Judy Belushi told Patch.

Belushi, along with Aykroyd, has produced a live concert show –The Official Blues Brothers Revue – that combines the comedy and hit songs from the original 1980 hit film as well as the five iconic albums released by her late husband, John Belushi, and Aykroyd.

The Official Blues Brothers Revue, along with Jake and Elwood Blues, are coming to rock the Paramount in Peekskill on Friday, Nov. 15. The legendary blues duo, who is depicted by Wayne Cantania and Kieron Lafferty, is the official tribute band of the legendary 1980s film The Blues Brothers.

While they can't be exactly like the original band, Belushi said the two performers have created their own relationships with Jake and Elwood while staying true to the original characters.

"They don't need to [match the comedic wit and timing of John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd], Belushi said. "They are characters. Each person, each performer does something of themselves to it. They try to be true to the essence of the original guys."

Discovered in Las Vegas, performers Catania and Lafferty capture the infectious humor and unbridled spirit of the Blues Brothers. The Official Blues Brothers Revue and their eight-piece intercontinental rhythm and blues revue band pay homage to the humor, music and mayhem of the Blues Brothers and to Chicago’s rich musical history of blues, gospel and soul music.

"I just really admire the way Wayne [Catania] and Kieran [Lafferty] pull it off being the Blues Brothers," Belushi told Patch

The Official Blues Brothers Revue, which has kicked off its 31-city tour, features all the Blues Brothers classics including “Soul Man,” “Rubber Biscuit,” “Sweet Home Chicago,” “Rawhide” and “Gimme Some Lovin’” among many others.

Belushi promises a fun, "feel-good concert" that has great music. Just as the original Blues Brothers gave credit to the artists who had written the songs, The Revue show will also incorporate pictures of people and give a sense of the history of the blues.

"John [Belushi] and Dan [Aykroyd]'s reason for wanting to do this was their love for the music and excitement about being part of it," Belushi said. "They had a great respect for their people in their band and all those who had built this music for us to enjoy."
