From the Jacob Burns Film Center:
The first movie poster created by art director Bill Gold was for Casablanca in 1942. Since then he's gone on to produce over 2,000 posters for films of every genre, including Dial M for Murder, Baby Doll, 8 1/2, My Fair Lady, The Wild Bunch, A Clockwork Orange, The Exorcist, Goodfellas, and Unforgiven.
Though he's a legend in the film industry, he is far less known to the wider public. But now with the release of his gorgeous art book, Bill Gold: PosterWorks, the extraordinary range and imagination of his iconic creations are finally getting the recognition they deserve. Join us for an evening celebrating Bill's groundbreaking work, where he will share stories and discuss his process, his favorite posters, and his longstanding relationship with Clint Eastwood, whom he met while working on the Dirty Harry campaign. Gold created the posters for every film Eastwood directed until Bill's retirement after Mystic River.
Q&A: Bill Gold will be joined onstage by book editor Tony Nourmand and writer Sir Christopher Frayling
