Whiz Kids: Harrison High School Musical Performers

This week's Harrison Patch Whiz Kids are the members of Harrison High School's award winning marching band, color guard, majorettes, and jazz, wind and percussion ensembles

Each week Harrison Patch wants to spotlight someone you know who is doing great things! We will recognize their accomplishments through our Whiz Kids column.

This week we chose the Harrison High School Marching Band.

Whiz Kids' Accomplishments: The Harrison Marching Band, color guard, majorettes, and jazz, wind and percussion ensembles captured six first place awards along with several individual awards at the Heritage Festival in Atlanta, GA this weekend.

The marching band, color guard and majorettes won the silver first place award. The jazz band, wind ensemble and percussion ensemble won the gold first place award. The jazz band also won the adjudicator's award.

The entire ensemble took home the best overall band and spirit awards.

Individual Maestro Awards awards were also given to band members Bryan Jacobowitz, Ryan Polokoff and Jacob Seidman.

Key to Awesomeness: The Harrison Marching band is a college-level marching band made up of students in Harrison High School. The band competes at national competitions throughout the year, often placing as one of the best marching bands at festivals all over the country.

Editor's Note: Harrison Central School District contributed to this report.
