Westchester Brassmen Drum & Bugle Corps of Harrison Celebrate 29 Years and 1,000+Parades

Founded in 1984, the Brassmen are sponsored by American Legion Post 559 of Harrison.

The Westchester Brassmen Drum and Bugle Corps from Harrison announce the 29th anniversary of their formation. Founded in 1984 by Joseph Mazzullo, Jr., who remains the group's director, the Brassmen march and perform each year for audiences in several states on the east coast.

Keeping a hectic schedule of parades, the Brassmen play familiar tunes such as “California Dreamin," “Georgia on My Mind," “Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You," and “Magnificent 7." With a roster of 75 members ranging in age from 14-74, the Brassmen are sponsored by American Legion Post 559 of Harrison, and are all-voluntary, with no membership fee.

The corps is comprised of a horn line of 40, a drum line consisting of ten snare, three multi-tenors, and six bass drummers, a performing guard of ten, and, according to a release from the group, an honor guard.  The Brassmen have performed in over 1,000 parades and exhibitions in several states along the east coast, and have received over 500 first place trophies.
