Thunderstorms to Cool Off Unrelenting Heat Wave

Though it seems as though the streak of stifling humidity and unrelenting high temperatures will go on forever, the end is in sight.

Today's temperature will hover around 95 degrees, however, heavy thunderstorms with gusty winds of up to 58 mph and torrents of rain are expected to hit the area after 2 p.m. today according to the National Weather Service (NWS).

The rain is expected to taper off in the early hours of Sunday, and sunny, cooler weather will prevail, with a high of 87 degrees.

Next week, temperatures will drop to the low 80s, a welcome relief for those that sweated through the worst of the heat wave.
