Wondering what to do with your kids now that the dog days of summer are upon us? Below are a few of the offerings from the Harrison Recreation Department. Parents must be Harrison residents in order to register their children; in order to obtain a 2013 ID card, they must provide proof of residency such as a current utility bill and driver's license and a school report card or progress report for children.
AUGUST CAMPS:
LACROSSE CAMP: This summer Harrison Lacrosse is offering both a boys and girls lacrosse camp for players in grades 1-10. The camps will run from Aug. 12-16 at the West Harrison Turf Field. SOCCER CAMP: Learn the basic skills of soccer and play games while enjoying a quick dip in the pool. Aug. 12 – 16, 9 a.m. to noon at Bernie Guagnini Park. Fee: $100, payable to Town/Village of Harrison.
BASKETBALL CAMP: Boys and Girls 3rd – 8th grade. Instruction in ball handling, shooting, dribbling, and passing, etc... Aug. 19 – 23 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Sollazzo Center. Fee: $210, payable to Town/Village of Harrison.
CHEERLEADING CAMP: Girls 3rd - 7th grade, Aug. 12-16, from 1 to 4 p.m. at Bernie Guagnini Park. Camp includes instructional stretch, line dance, and jump technique with varsity cheers and swimming. Fee: $100.00, payable to Harrison Cheerleader Alumni.
SWIM CAMP: Come and enjoy a fun-filled week of aquatics. Your child will have instructions including stroke development, water safety skills, water games; aquatic related art projects and free swim for grades 1st – 3rd, the week of Aug. 12-16 from 9 a.m. to noon at the West Harrison Pool. Fee: $125, Check payable to Town/Village of Harrison.
LEGO CAMP: Programs designed to teach principles and methods of engineering, architecture, and sciences to grades K-5. Aug. 26-30. K-2 is from 9 a.m. to noon and 3rd-5th, 1 to 4 p..m.. This will be held at the Sollazzo Center. Fee: $135 made payable to Town/Village of Harrison. www.play-well.org
