Spend the Summer Immersed in a Book

Though many kids spend their summers shuttling back and forth to summer camp or transfixed by a computer screen, both the Harrison and West Harrison Libraries are hoping to encourage them to continue reading once school lets out with their annual Summer Reading Game.

From July 8-Aug. 12, during their "Dig into Reading" program, the Harrison Public Library will award one star for every 15 minutes of reading that participants complete (magazines and cereal boxes count); kids will get small prizes for every 10 stars received and will be eligible to enter a raffle on Aug. 12 at 4 p.m. if they accumulate 50 or more stars.

At the West Harrison Library, the program is open to kids 0-12 years old. Kids will receive a sticker for every 15 minutes of reading (or being read to) and a small prize for every 5 stickers. Writing a review of a book earns yet another sticker; reviews can be written here on the Library's website.

Please contact the children's librarian at each location with additional questions; contact information can be found by clicking on the links above.
