Metro-North Railroad, which carried about half of its normal rush hour ridership this morning, will operate 75 percent of its normal evening rush hour schedule today, across all lines, Hudson, Harlem and New Haven, officials announced.

Some local and express trains will be combined and will make additional stops.  Consolidated trains will depart from Grand Central at the later of the two times so no one will “just miss” the train to their station.

The trains to be combined were chosen to minimize customer impacts and to get everyone home within 10-15 minutes of their normal time. The schedule is available at MTA.info.

Beginning at 9 p.m., Metro-North will go to hourly service for the remainder of the day.  On Thursday morning, the railroad intends to operate a normal AM peak service.

Most of Metro-North’s service territory is under a foot of snow and overnight temperatures are expected to be in the single digits. Because of the continued winter weather, the railroad may experience weather-related problems.  Customers should check the mta.info website, listen for announcements at their stations, and sign up for email alerts.

As the rush hour winds down, New York City Transit will begin to store trains underground on express tracks to prevent them from being blocked in yards and exposed to harsh winter elements. As a result, express services on portions of some lines will be curtailed after rush hour. Subway customers should anticipate some weather-related delays, especially on the portions of subway lines that are outdoors.

All roadways and ramps are open and operating normally at MTA’s seven bridges and two tunnels.
