Jet Blue Will Compensate Passengers Affected by Flight Cancellations

Flights have resumed at Westchester County Airport.

Jet Blue was the posterchild for the chaos that hit air transportation in the United States due to the polar vortex; but other airlines were affected as well.

Boston, New York, Washington and Chicago airports are still having issues with delays.

Flights resumed yesterday at Westchester County Airport, Westchester News 12 reported. "Many of the passengers News 12 spoke with were headed to Florida. They say that the temperature in Fort Lauderdale may have only reached about 46 degrees today, but they prefer it to the frigid temperatures of New York."

While still scrambling to get its delayed customers on flights, JetBlue said it will compensate the more than 150,000 customers affected by flight cancellations since Jan. 2.

Last week’s snowstorm and frigid temperatures caused the airline to cancel dozens of flights, most notably flights to and from Boston and the three New York area airports.

“We own it ... and I think we have to make it right,” chief operating officer Rob Maruster told the Boston Herald.

The Herald reported that Jet Blue has “extended the period in which it’s waiving change/cancel fees and fare differences for customers traveling from Jan. 2 through today. It also established a compensation plan for those hit by cancellations, offering TrueBlue points or ‘Customer Good Will’ credit.”
