Education Fund Set Up for Children of Fallen Runner
Funds will go directly toward the college fund of Steven Gates' sons, Brian and Connor Gates.
An education fund has been set up for the children of Steven M. Gates, who died while running in the Sleepy Hollow 10K race last fall.
Donations in memory of their father may be made for Brian and Connor via checks made payable to: New York’s 529 College Savings Program Direct Plan (Memo line: Gates Family Education Fund).
Contributions may be mailed to the fund administrator: James Gates, 441 Henry Street, #4, Brooklyn, NY, 11231.
The family requests the name and address of each contributor so gifts may be acknowledged.
Steven Gates' collapse during the race and sudden death shocked family and friends. He was 54 at the time of his death, which the county medical examiner ruled as heart disease. He was an amateur runner and a music professional.
