Buy a Bear Program to Spread Holiday Joy

Harrison resident Alfred Menna is seeking donations to provide a special gift for Harrison children in need.

As local volunteers gear up for the third year of Harrison's Holiday Project, Harrison resident Alfred Menna has a plan to add a special gift to the packages that will be distributed to children in need.

Menna, 39, is seeking donations to buy large stuffed bears for all of the children on the town's food pantry list. For the last two years the Holiday Project has distributed donated gifts to families in need during the holiday season. Menna decided a holiday bear would be a good addition to the holiday bundle.

"I always wanted to give back, so that was really my thing," Menna said. "I said 'I wanted to help these kids' I know a lot of them don't have money in their families."

Anyone can purchase one of the bears for $20. Menna started collecting donations in October and hopes to send out 100 donated bears when deliveries go out this December.

"It's great," he said. "I just know that I'm doing something good for the kids."
