Westchester and Fairfield county parents who have dreamed of having their sons and daughters dance to Tchaikovsky in The Nutcracker on the big stage of The Performing Arts Center at Purchase College now have a chance to realize that dream.
The internationally known Conservatory of Dance, within The School of the Arts at Purchase College, SUNY, is holding auditions for children on Saturday and Sunday, September 15-16, 2012 at the Dance Building on the Purchase College campus. The Nutcracker will be performed December 4-9, 2012. The Conservatory’s enchanting version of the Nutcracker will feature choreography by John Heginbotham, [formerly of the Mark Morris Dance Group], internationally recognized choreographer Nicolo Fonte, and Conservatory of Dance faculty.
“We welcome all boys and girls between the age of 5-13 who have a talent for movement and some previous dance experience,” said Wallie Wolfgruber, Director of the Conservatory of Dance. There is one caveat about size: dancers should not be taller than five feet.
Auditions will be held in Purchase College’s Dance Building, Studio H, from 9:30 am through 5:15 pm. For details about schedules and selecting an audition time visit www.purchase.edu/dance or call (914) 251-6803.
