The 7th grade teachers at Louis M. Klein Middle School held the annual National Geography Bee competition on Friday, January 11th. Twelve 7th grade students were chosen from preliminary competitions held in their Social Studies classes to compete in this final competition.

After numerous rounds of suspense-filled competition only two students – Matthew Schwartz and Jack Roshco-remained. Matthew and Jack tied in the Championship round, forcing a Championship Tiebreaker. Ultimately, Jack identified successfully Mexico as the site of the Maya ruins at Chichen Itza (pronounced chee-Chen eey-SAH) to win the bee.
Jack has earned the right to advance to the next level of competition. If he triumphs on this written exam, he will have the opportunity to compete at the state level.
