Dear Friends,
As you know, many states in the east coast including New York, New Jersey and Connecticut, have suffered tremendous damage from Hurricane Sandy. We have lost 92 American lives and continue to calculate the property damage caused by the hurricane, which has now passed $50 billion.
As Turkish Cultural Center Westchester, we would like to send our deepest condolences to all the victims, their families and friends and hope that they will remain strong throughout the aftermath of this disaster. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
Turkish Cultural Center Westchester and Helping Hands Relief Foundation (www.hhrelief.org) have collaborated to raise money for the victims of Hurricane Sandy. Although a good amount of federal assistance has been granted for infrastructural improvements, shelters and soup kitchens, this fundraiser will provide aid to small businesses and individuals who have experienced great loss due to the hurricane and who have no opportunities for financing their repairs. We aim to give those individuals the push they need to get back on their feet and continue serving our community. Please join us in our efforts by making a donation of any kind to the Helping Hands Relief Foundation at www.hhrelief.org. We would like to remind everyone that in such a time of disaster, it is most important for us all to unite our minds and our efforts. This will allow us to not only eliminate further damage but also heal each other's wounds in the most effective and expeditious way.
As Turkish Cultural Center Westchester, we would like to thank President Obama, Governor Cuomo, Governor Chris Christie and County Executive of Westchester Rob Astorino for their considerations and efforts of restoring the communities affected by the disaster. We also send our gratitude to the first responders, hospital workers, fire fighters, city employees and the countless volunteers for their tireless endeavors and those who have included the victims in their prayers. We hope that New York and other states experience a full recovery from the storm as soon as possible.
Sincerely,
Turkish Cultural Center Westchester, Elmsford.
