Hudson Valley Restaurant Week, the region’s largest culinary event, will return for an encore November 5-18. Popular demand from both chefs and diners spurred event organizers to schedule a second culinary extravaganza.
“A lot of people have asked for a second Restaurant Week,” says Janet Crawshaw, publisher of The Valley Table magazine and founder of Hudson Valley Restaurant Week, “and we are excited to offer a fall Restaurant Week. Fall is a very special time to visit the Hudson Valley and a great time to showcase the valley and for restaurants to feature local products. It’s a win-win for everyone.”
Josh Kroner, chef/owner of Terrapin Restaurant, in Rhinebeck, and a Restaurant Week advisor, notes that Restaurant Week has been a huge success for his restaurant. “In November,” he says, “things slow down a bit after the rush of the fall foliage season, so it will be a good time to give diners a chance to come out and try new and exciting dishes. We’re looking forward to creating innovative menu items featuring the bounty of the fall harvest.”

Seventy restaurants participated in the inaugural Restaurant Week in 2006; more than two hundred participated in the March 2012 event. “Most of the participating restaurants reported a twenty to fifty percent increase in business during the event,” Crawshaw adds, “which also generated business for local suppliers, farms, wineries, and purveyors.”
