Harrison Clean-Up Day Very Successful—Perfect Timing with Earth Day Approaching!

Residents take on "Clean-Up" volunteer assignments to keep Harrison looking great!

Harrison residents, some who are town workers as well, came out on last Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and did a really nice job of cleaning-up designated sections of our community.

As for our five-person group, we started cleaning on and near the thruway bridge on West St. We decided to extend our section and kept going down West St to the Metro North overpass bridge cleaning both sides of West St as we walked.  It was filthy, we found a variety of garbage that had been thrown out of car windows and walkers over the past several years. Glass bottles, plastic water bottles, loads of empty cigarette packs, plastic and paper bags, the men even found a Volkswagen fender in the woods near the West St. bridge!

It was a lot of hard work but we all felt great after we finished seeing the end results, we were able to return some beauty and dignity back to our town (:

From the other photo's I've seen from this earth-friendly project, everyone who volunteered and participated in this event was a winner and it shows the rest of the residents that "It's Great to Live in Harrison" even if we have to help-out once and a while to keep it "Great"!
