Puppy Plunge in Harrison; "9/11: Serve & Remember" Volunteer Opportunities Available

  • The Harrison Public Library is hosting "A Circle for Tots" this morning at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. The event will feature Songs, dancing and  stories for children up to age 3.
  • The Harrison Recreation Department kicked off its Puppy Plunge Tuesday. The event will allow dog owners to bring their pets to the Brentwood Pool in Harrison this week. Times are  from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. until Friday and 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
  • SCORE Westchester is hosting  a workshop on product marketing, sales, distribution and manufacturing relations today, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Entrepreneur Nina Mattikow will lead the workshop. Register here. SCORE Westchester is located at 120 Bloomingdale Rd. in White Plains.
  • The White Plains Business Improvement District's Rising Star Sidewalk Sales are scheduled to begin today. The sales offer visitors and shoppers great deals on a variety of  merchandise in downtown White Plains. The sales will tae place 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Sunday.   • The formal kick-off for “ 9/11: Serve & Remember” was Tuesday. The event features more than 25 service events at area nonprofit organizations, beginning Tuesday and continuing until Sept 11. Go to www.volunteer-center.org/service2013 for a full list of activities.
