Police: Suspect in Yonkers Robbery Could Be Linked to Train Station Incidents

Pelham police are looking at Kyle Taylor, 23, of Mount Vernon and New Rochelle, as the possible suspect in a series of armed robberies in Pelham, Mamaroneck and Harrison. Taylor was convicted of another robbery in 2007, according to state records.

Pelham police are eyeing a 23-year-old southern Westchester man with a history of committing violent crimes as the possible suspect in a series of armed robberies that have taken place along the New Haven Line the past few weeks.

Pelham police arrested Kyle Taylor, 23, of both Mount Vernon and New Rochelle, a little before 11 p.m. Wednesday night following a traffic stop, according to Detective Rick Deere of the Pelham police department.

Taylor was one of three individuals who were inside the vehicle when it was stopped for a traffic infraction. Upon further investigation, Pelham police determined that the car fit the description of another vehicle that was involved in menacing incident in New Rochelle Tuesday night.

Police checked the identification of all three men and determined that Taylor was wanted on warrant out of Yonkers for first-degree robbery. Taylor tried to run away from police, but was chased down about 250 yards away from the car.

Police said they didn’t find any weapons on Taylor at the time they took him into custody, but a fully loaded 9 mm Bereta was found in a nearby yard Friday morning. Police believe Taylor threw the gun over fence while he was being pursued by police.

The two other passengers in the car were questioned and then released, according to Deere. Pelham police charged Taylor with resisting arrest and transferred him into custody of Yonkers Police.

Taylor is due back in Pelham town court on Feb. 23.

In addition to the Yonkers warrant, Deere said Taylor was arrested at least two other times for violent robberies. Taylor was sent to the Orleans Correctional Facility in Albion, Oreleans County, for two counts of second-degree robbery, according to state Department of Corrections and Community Supervision. Taylor was released on parole in April 2008 and completed parole requirements in 2011.

Deere said police are still determining if Taylor is linked to the armed robberies that have taken place in Pelham, New Rochelle, Mamaroneck and Harrison the past few weeks.

Taylor was arraigned in Yonkers Thursday on a charge of first-degree robbery and is now being held in Westchester County Jail. He is scheduled to reappear in Yonkers city court on March. 1.

Crazy stuff going on in Harison lately. Armed robberies, assaults, sex crimes, burglaries. Sounds like a lot more than a few cats in a tree huh MARC? That would be for the fire department anyway, they carry the ladders. Nothing happens in Harrison though......................

Any further updates? My adult students (who live in Harrison) are wondering whether the perp has been caught or not.
