Police: Felony Charges For Teens Accused of Stealing From Cars
Harrison police arrested three teens on Sunday after they say the teens took items from several vehicles in the Park Lane area of West Harrison.
Three White Plains teenagers face felony charges after police say they stole computers, GPS systems, cell phones and ipods from 13 different cars in West Harrison on Oct. 16.
The thefts took place in the Park Lane area of West Harrison late Saturday night into Sunday morning. The teens were arrested after a man spotted them near his vehicle early Sunday morning and called police.
"We investigated throughout the day (Sunday)," said Harrison Police Chief Anthony Marraccini. "We were able to develop information that led us to the suspects."
Police believe that all of the stolen property was eventually recovered. The youths were arrested in their homes in White Plains.
"In the dark of night they were breaking into cars in the Park Lane area," Harrison Mayor/Supervisor Joan Walsh said Tuesday.
All three suspects were charged with one count of criminal possession of stolen property—a felony, one count of grand larceny—a felony, 13 counts of petit larceny—a misdemeanor and one count of conspiracy—a misdemeanor.
Police also believe the suspects might have been involved in three related cases out of the White Plains jurisdiction. The larcenies out of White Plains took place on a different night, Marraccini said.
The names of the suspects were not released because they are all younger than 18.
