Youth Art Month 2010

This is the 30th year of Youth Art Month. I (Doreen Grozinger) became a member of the Harrison Council for the Arts in 1985 and immeditately became involved with the committee for Youth Art Month. The show includes public and private schools in the Harrison School district - 8 schools, 13 teachers. During the show, the mayor selects art that will be framed and hung in the Municipal building.  This becomes part of the collection that can be viewed throughout the year.  After 3 years, the student may claim their artwork back, but many have become part of this permanent collection. The art is displayed for the month of March in both the Municipal building and in the Harrison Public library.  The opening reception is always held the first sunday of March.   The following month in April is the exhibit of Art of the Young Child.  This show is an exhibit of art and photographs of preschoolers of the Harrison Children's center.  Reception for this show is Sunday, April 18 from 1-3pm. at the Municipal building.  This also is a program sponsored by the Harrison Council for the arts. Classes, photographs and curated by Doreen Grozinger.
